We have an exciting opportunity with Sue Ryder to work for a six month fixed term as our Director of IT.

This role will provide essential support for the team and be integral in the continuation of momentum with our current initiatives including work with or Healthcare data/BI projects, healthcare and commercial plans and business continuity.

About the role:
The Director of IT is responsibility for leading the charity’s Information, Systems and Technology support into the future, exploring innovation, potential technologies and investment, to create a more efficient environment and deliver innovative end of life and bereavement services.
The successful applicant will work with Executive and Senior Managers throughout the charity, building effective relationships to generate new ideas and create plans for the delivery of systems and technology; inputting into the delivery of the 5-year strategy.
They will provide high level leadership and management to the IT team. The post holder will lead on the development and delivery of high quality, customer focussed and secure IT services that facilitate innovation, technological developments and enable delivery of improvements to service user care, including developing a culture of robust reporting and data awareness across the workforce.
They will be accountable for the overall development, management, control and delivery of all IT support, ensuring the IT service is providing an excellent level of performance, is progressive and innovative in its’ approach.

About you:

• Proven track record at a senior level of leading IT teams in a complex matrix organisation
• Proven experience in successfully leading large scale IT projects and programmes
• Experience of establishing and delivering cultural and people change management through the development and implementation of IT systems & processes
• Proven experience of the development and delivery of IT strategies to support organisational and client goals
• Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to understand key concepts & communicate with technical and non-technical staff, operational business and senior managers
• Proven experience of negotiation and influencing skills at all levels to executive & board level
• Proven experience of inspiring, motivating, coaching, mentoring & managing staff to build high performing teams
• Proven ability to network effectively with internal & external stakeholders including peer groups
• Proven experience of managing large scale budget preparation, monitoring & control
• Proven experience of effectively presenting information, engaging & responding to questions to both large and small groups of stakeholders
• Up to date knowledge and understanding of the external IT environment & new technologies, ideally within a health services setting
• Proven experience of understanding and evaluating customer IT requirements and providing creative and cost-effective solutions


Minimum Essential criteria:
• Educated to degree level or equivalent skills and knowledge in the field of computer science, information technology, business management/administration or a related field
• Organisation wide business planning and budgeting experience
• Proven experience of negotiation & influencing skills at all levels to executive & board level
• Proven experience of inspiring, motivating, coaching, mentoring & managing staff to build high performing teams
• Demonstrable knowledge of Agile delivery & Software development methods
• Demonstrable knowledge of hardware, architecture & operating systems

Desirable criteria:
• Certified in OGC Managing successful Programmes
• British Computer Society Chartered IT Professional (CITP) accreditation
