Sue Ryder are looking to appoint a Clinical Operations Manager in a newly created position within our Bereavement Directorate.
Supporting the day to day running of the Online counselling service and working closely in collaboration with the (Deputy) Bereavement Services Manager/Team Leaders and admin staff you will
coordinate activities that impact service outcomes. This role will be integral in the operational and business development of services.
About the role:
• To manage the day-to-day running of the online bereavement counselling service using a time-limited 6-session model, working closely with the bereavement services manager
• To refer clients to other statutory and non-statutory agencies when necessary
• To assess and manage risk for clients following the safeguarding process and escalate concerns to the Safeguarding team when required
• Responsible for day-to-day oversights and quality checking of data input/outputs, compiling monthly reports and developing action plans around service performance
• To ensure appropriate confidentiality is always maintained in line with the policies and procedures of Sue Ryder, legal and ethical requirements
• To audit and monitor clinical system data and identify areas for continuous improvement
• Responsible for optimising staff rota, providing finance information, inputting monthly payroll information where appropriate
• To undertake appropriate supervision with line reports and to run triage meetings
• To support the Marketing and Communications team with awareness-raising activity, and liaising when required with the digital services team for service improvements and updates
• To promote a culture where staff are empowered to challenge inappropriate behaviour and unsafe practice using appropriate organisational processes via line manager or by using our internal whistle-blowing policy
• To demonstrate effective clinical leadership and establish a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence
• To demonstrate a high level of understanding and monitor the quality of clinical governance guidelines and professional ethical standards through clinical audit
• Work with BSM on compliance with Sue Ryder Healthcare KPIs. Support the BSM in overseeing the governance of the service, ensuring all confidentiality and safeguarding processes are being adhered to.
• To ensure staff onboarding and outboarding is completed appropriately
• To report and resolve any issues relating to the service delivery for example IT or waiting list issues
• To undertake risk register reviews and add to risk mitigation actions
• Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally taking on reasonable additional tasks
About you:
• Significant clinical experience and/or training in complex client issues and risk
• Significant, demonstrable knowledge and/or training in working with bereavement, loss and grief
• Significant experience in leading, managing and holding clinical responsibility for large counselling services and teams
• Experienced in providing and managing psychological counselling to service users and staff via online delivery
• High level of understanding of legal, ethical and data issues pertinent to providing an online counselling service
• Competent IT skills, with significant experience in using online technologies and digital communications
• Good understanding of running a mental health service (or service with mental health component) and managing therapists
• Outstanding people and communication skills - written, verbal, and interpersonal
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail
• Proven ability in a leadership role and experience of overall office management process and procedures
• Able to manage and escalate online risk and safeguarding issues
• Proven knowledge and experience of basic financial processes, invoicing, budgeting and reporting
• Ability to understand and interpret reporting requirements and analyse data
• Ability to work on own initiative and to deadlines
