Sue Ryder has an exciting opportunity for a Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a really varied role and has a direct impact on enhancing the daily lives of our residents at Dee View Court. You will take a keen interest in how our residents spend their days and plan and provide a range activities that will provide choice and independence.
About us:
Sue Ryder Dee View Court in Kincorth, Aberdeen, is currently Scotland's only purpose-built specialist neurological centre providing care for people living with complex neurological conditions, including Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis and acquired brain injuries. We have exciting career and development opportunities for Experienced Care Assistants of all levels.
Our specialist Neurological Care centre has 36 single bedrooms available for residential care and 7 supported living apartment for two people, which has a kitchen and a lounge to help people maintain their independence for as long as possible.
About the role:
• To enable service users to take part in recreational and social activities of their choice, encouraging independent choice
• This role reports to the Activities Supervisor
• The role will work closely with other Activities Assistants and other members of the wider multidisciplinary team
• To assist in maintaining morale of clients by communication and contact – achieved by talking and working with them
• To work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team
• To participate fully in the Care Plan process in the role of Associate Key Worker including assessment, implementation and evaluation
• To attend to and assist clients in achieving a high standard of physical care, including diet, hygiene and appearance
About you:
• NVQ in Care Level 2 or other relevant subject /training – desirable
• Understanding of health/social care sector work
• Experience in a similar type of role desirable
• Skilled in interacting with all types of people
• Able to work as part of a team
• Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
