About us
Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham is Gloucestershire’s only inpatient unit for specialist palliative care.
We support people aged 18 and over who are living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, heart failure and lung disease by combining specialist medical care for managing pain and other symptoms with other emotional, practical and spiritual support.
We are able to provide care on our inpatient unit, virtually and in person though our community hub and in people’s home though our Hospice at Home service.
You’ll be responsible for…
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and practical **Site Supervisor** to join our team.
Working Monday to Friday, 08:00–15:30, you will play an important role in ensuring our buildings, equipment and grounds are maintained to a safe, effective and cost-efficient standard.
You will oversee the day-to-day work of the estates team, including Site Assistants, and work alongside volunteers and external contractors to ensure maintenance and repair work is completed safely and with minimal disruption to the running of the service.
Some of the duties of this role include, but are not limited to:
* Planning and implementing internal and external maintenance and decorating schedules
* Managing systems for day-to-day repairs and maintenance
* Organising and overseeing the work of the estates team
* Supervising, supporting and motivating Site Assistants
* Liaising with and directing contractors working on site
* Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, fire regulations and environmental standards
* Producing risk assessments for activities within the role
* Monitoring inspections and ensuring actions and recommendations are completed
* Maintaining accurate records in line with Sue Ryder policies and procedures
* Ensuring effective communication with other departments and the Estates Management team
* Supporting external inspections and internal quality improvement activity
* Helping to maintain a safe, well-maintained and welcoming environment for our service users, visitors, staff and volunteers
The ideal candidate would be…
We’re looking for ambitious people who are motivated by making a real difference. If you’re keen to learn, grow and develop while helping us ensure everyone gets the support they deserve, you’ll fit right in.
We are looking for someone with a hands-on approach who has experience of maintenance and facilities work and is confident supervising others.
You will be organised, able to plan and prioritise workloads effectively and comfortable working with a range of people including colleagues, service users, volunteers and external contractors.
Minimum Essential Criteria:
Good knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH and other relevant legislation as well as proven experience completing relevant documentation (Legionella, Asbestos, Contractor Management)
Experience of supervising others and working effectively as part of a team
Practical experience and skills across a range of minor maintenance and repair tasks
Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
A valid driving licence
An IOSH Certificate for Risk Management would be beneficial; however, we welcome applications from candidates who are willing to work towards achieving this within their first year of employment.
