About us

Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham is Gloucestershire’s only inpatient unit for specialist palliative care.

We support people aged 18 and over who are living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, heart failure and lung disease by combining specialist medical care for managing pain and other symptoms with other emotional, practical and spiritual support.

We are able to provide care on our inpatient unit, virtually and in person though our community hub and in people’s home though our Hospice at Home service.


About the role

Shift times are:

Monday to Friday (3 shifts per week)
07:30 - 15:30
14:00 - 22:00


We’re looking for a passionate and experienced nurse to join our Hospice at Home service in the community.

You’ll:

• Deliver high-quality palliative and end-of-life care in patients’ homes
• Support people to remain where they feel most comfortable—at home
• Work across Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury
• Assess, plan and deliver person-centred, evidence-based care
• Provide education, mentorship and clinical leadership

This is a role for someone who thrives on autonomy, compassion and clinical excellence.

About you

You’re a confident, compassionate nurse who leads by example.

You will bring:

• The ability to work independently in complex, fast-changing environments
• A commitment to delivering outstanding patient and family-centred care
• Excellent communication and decision-making skills

Minimum Essential Criteria

(Disabled applicants who meet these criteria will be guaranteed an interview)

• Registered General Nurse with active registration (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
• Post-registration experience in a healthcare setting
• Experience of working in community or clinical environments
• Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage workload and prioritise in a dynamic environment
• Basic IT skills and ability to maintain accurate clinical records
• Willingness to travel across the community (driving licence/access to transport required)

Desirable Criteria

• Experience in specialist palliative or end-of-life care
• Experience in community nursing
• Mentorship or teaching experience
• Knowledge of current healthcare legislation and best practice
