The Role
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Services and Development the role is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day operations in the Sue Ryder warehouse, including inventory management, shipping and receiving, staff management, and process improvement, this role is critical in optimising warehouse workflows, ensuring safety compliance, and meeting productivity goals ensuring that our customers’ needs are put at the forefront of everything we do
About You
• You will have expert knowledge of warehousing and logistics, with extensive experience in warehouse management or logistics in a supervisory/management role
• Ideally you will have ISO 9001 certification or equivalent and Six Sigma certification
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other relevant technology
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, order fulfilment, and shipping, ensuring inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, audits, and inventory management systems.
• Manage warehouse layout and design to maximize efficiency and space utilization
• Recruit, train, and manage a team of warehouse staff, managing performance and promoting teamwork and productivity.
• Identify, document and implement best practice process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels and develop strategies to achieve operational targets
• Lead initiatives to optimise warehouse technology, such as warehouse management systems and automation.
• Develop and manage the warehouse operations budget, including labour, equipment, and supplies, to include preparing and presenting financial and operational reports.
• Ensure that warehouse operations meet customer expectations in terms of delivery times, order accuracy, and product condition, resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner
• Ability to travel locally and nationally, full driver’s license is desirable
