Spiritual Coordinator
25 hours per week, Monday to Friday occasional Weekend
St John’s Hospice, Moggerhanger, Bedford, MK44 3RJ
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Spiritual Coordinator to lead, and develop the day-to-day work of the spiritual care services at St John’s Hospice.
As an integral member of the Family Support Team, you will work with the hospice’s multi-disciplinary teams to promote and provide high-quality pastoral, spiritual and holistic care to patients, carers, staff and volunteers.
With excellent leadership and inter-personal skills, you will work collaboratively with and manage a small team of chaplaincy volunteers, helping them develop their own skills in this area. You will also provide a link between Sue Ryder and faith and community groups in the local area.
You will have considerable pastoral experience and ideally some previous experience of chaplaincy. Ideally, you will also be authorised to ministry by an appropriate religious authority and have a theological qualification. An understanding of world faiths and other belief systems particularly regarding belief and practices around illness, death and dying is essential.
St John's is a Sue Ryder hospice. We support people aged 18 and over who are dying from conditions like cancer, heart failure and lung disease. We offer a range of support to patients and their families including community and inpatient care. We are very proud of the care we provide, our lovely building and beautiful gardens.
Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice is located in Moggerhanger which is a village between Sandy and Bedford. There is a bus service which runs through Moggerhanger but this is hourly and is less frequent at weekends. Your own transport is advised.
